Cumberland SEND Information, Advice and Support Service

Young People's Information

Are you a young person under 25? Do you live in the Cumberland local authority area? Do you have a special educational need or a disability?

Find out how our service can help you.

Support for Young People

Cumberland SENDIASS supports young people directly, or with their parents/carers or trusted adult if this is preferred by the young person. We can help you with lots of things, such as planning what to say in a meeting, sharing what you think when making decisions about your education and supporting you with a request for an Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment.

The Council for Disabled Children have produced a video explaining what an Educational, Health and Care Plan is.

You can decide how you want your support to work. We can email you, call you on the phone, or meet you in person at a place you feel comfortable. Our Co-ordinators can talk to you one to one, or with a trusted adult to support you.

Everything you say to us is private. We will only tell someone what you’ve said if we are worried about yours or someone else’s safety.

Making your voice heard is so important, it can help you to get the right support and make plans for your future.

Annual Reviews

If you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the Local Authority will hold an annual review of your support. Watch the guide on how to share your views at an annual review.

A video is also available explaining how SENDIASS can support young people.

More information is available on the Post 16 and Post 19 pages of this website and on the Cumberland SEND Local Offer.

If you would like support from us about school, college, or your Education, Health and Care plan, please visit our contact details.
